Your file stays on your device

The splitting happens in this page, using your browser’s own processing. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is stored, and there is no account to create. Closing the tab is all the cleanup there is.

How to use it

1. Drop in the PDF you want to split, or choose it from your device. The tool reads it straight away and tells you how many pages it has.
2. Type the pages you want. Each range becomes one file, in the order you list them, and a comma starts a new file. The presets fill the box in for you if one of them is close to what you want — you can then edit it.
3. Check the list of files the tool says it will produce, press Split, and download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.

What to type in the ranges box

There are only three things to write, and you can mix them freely:

• 8 — page 8 on its own.
• 1-3 — pages 1, 2 and 3 together in one file.
• 12- — page 12 through to the last page.

So 1-3, 8, 12- gives you three files: the first three pages, page 8 on its own, and everything from page 12 to the end. Order is yours to choose — 8, 1-3 produces the same two documents, listed the other way round. Ranges may overlap if you want the same page in more than one file. You can split into up to 50 files at a time, from a PDF of up to 50 MB.

You see the files before you split

As soon as your ranges make sense, the tool names the files it is about to create and how many pages each one has. That is deliberate: a mistyped range is much easier to fix while it is still a line of text than after you have downloaded three documents and have to open each one to work out which is which.

A range outside the document is refused

If you ask for pages 12 to 20 of a nine-page PDF, the tool says so rather than quietly giving you pages 12 to 9. The same goes for a range written backwards. A file that is not what you asked for is harder to notice than an error message, because there is nothing to check it against.

Downloading the parts

Every part gets its own download link, and if there is more than one there is also a ZIP containing all of them — browsers block a page that starts several downloads in a row, so the ZIP is the reliable way to take a large split away in one go.

Bookmarks, forms and signatures

Pages are copied faithfully, but each part is a new document: bookmarks, form fields and digital signatures from the original are not carried across. If a signature has to survive, keep the signed PDF as it is. Password-protected PDFs cannot be split.
