How do I convert a PDF to Excel?
Upload your PDFs, define the columns you want, start the extraction, review the resulting rows, and download an .xlsx file.
Can I upload multiple PDFs at once?
Yes. A batch can hold up to 100 PDF files, subject to file-size and total-upload limits.
Can I choose my own Excel columns?
Yes. Custom columns are central to the product. You name each field, say how to find it on the page (for example, the company under Bill To rather than the sender), and choose a text, number, currency, or date type.
How much does it cost?
You can try it free. Start with 5 credits without an account, and 50 credits when you create a free account. Buy more only when you need them. Prepaid credits: one credit converts one PDF page, packs start at $7 for 500 credits and get cheaper per credit as they get larger, and credits last 12 months from purchase. There is no subscription. What does a long PDF cost?
One credit per PDF page. A 1-page PDF costs 1 credit; a 2-page PDF costs 2 credits. The number of columns you ask for never changes the price. You are shown the exact cost after your files are uploaded and before anything comes off your balance, because we can only count the pages once we have the files.
How does the free allowance work?
There is no daily file allowance. You start with 5 credits without an account. Creating a free account adds 50 credits. There is no monthly subscription.
Do credits expire?
Credits bought now expire 12 months after purchase. We email you before any expire, the date is on your account page, and a conversion always uses the credits closest to expiring first, so nothing lapses while you still hold older credits. If you bought credits before we introduced expiry dates, those are not affected and never expire — we did not apply the change to credits people had already paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within 14 days of purchase, for the credits you have not used. A partly used pack is refunded in proportion: we return the same share of the money you paid as the share of credits still unused, calculated on the total including tax, and those credits leave your balance. Credits you have already spent are not refundable. Contact us from the email address on the account and say which purchase you mean.
What happens if a PDF cannot be read?
The credit for that document is refunded to your balance automatically. You only pay for documents that are actually converted.
What happens if a field is missing from a PDF?
Its cell remains blank. The extraction instructions explicitly tell the AI not to invent unsupported values.
Can ExtractToExcel process invoices and receipts?
Invoices and receipts are the main focus. Other repeated business PDFs also work when the requested fields are clearly present.
Does each PDF become one Excel row?
Yes. Each uploaded PDF maps to exactly one row so the source document and extracted record remain easy to match.
What Excel format will be exported?
A standard .xlsx workbook with one worksheet.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Create a free account to get 50 credits and convert PDFs. No credit card. An account also keeps your conversion history and is required to hold purchased credits.
Are uploaded PDFs stored?
Only long enough to do the job. PDFs go into private temporary storage and are deleted about an hour after they have been processed. This is not document storage and buying credits does not buy you an archive.
How accurate is AI extraction?
Accuracy depends on document quality, layout, scan clarity, and the requested fields. AI can make mistakes, so important results should always be reviewed.
Can scanned PDFs be processed?
Yes. The extraction pipeline handles scanned documents, but results vary with image quality and legibility.
What is the maximum PDF file size?
20 MB per PDF, up to 100 files and 400 MB in total per conversion. These limits may be adjusted to protect reliability and control processing costs.
How long do I have to download my Excel file?
7 days with a free account, 24 hours without one. Generated workbooks and the extracted values behind them are deleted that long after the conversion finishes, by an hourly cleanup job, and downloading again does not extend it. We cannot recover a workbook after that, and re-running the conversion costs credits like any other conversion, so download anything you need to keep.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, yourself, from your account settings. It takes effect immediately, removes your conversion history and every document and workbook stored against the account, and we email you to confirm. Any unused credits are forfeited when the account goes, so if you are within the 14-day refund window and want the money back, ask for the refund first — the page warns you if that applies to you. The record of what you paid is kept for tax and accounting, disconnected from your identity. If you would rather we did it by hand, email legal@extracttoexcel.com from the address on the account.
